On May 23 last year, a group fight broke out at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Schroeder Street in Yonkers, leaving area resident Kentrail Newton with a fatal stab wound to his neck, police said.

According to police, the investigation into the stabbing and fight determined that Newton and his attackers were familiar with one another prior to getting into the dispute outside Palisade Towers, which escalated into violence.

Newton was stabbed in the neck by a sharp object during the dispute, police said.

The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing. The Yonkers Police Department announced on Monday, March 2, that a $5,000 reward has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the fatal stabbing.

Anyone with information regarding the stabbing has been asked to contact the Yonkers Police Department’s Detective Division by calling (914) 377-7724 or submitting an anonymous tip by texting the keyword “YPD” plus the information to 847411.
